         JPEGSnoop is a small and portable application that examines and decodes the inner details of images determine if the image has been altered or edited.
It supports various image formats including JPG, PDF, CRW, DNG, CR2, NEF, ORF, PEF, THM and even MOV and AVI.

The software program will display many information about the image in a text editor like interface. The interesting part for users who want to identify if an image has been manipulated is at the end. The program will compare the compression characteristics of the image and assign an assessment class to it in the end.

Four assessment classes are defined:

1. Class 1 – Image is processed/edited
2. Class 2 – Image has high probability of being processed/edited
3. Class 3 – Image has high probability of being original
4. Class 4 – Uncertain if processed or original

This application has been designed and tested to run on Windows XP and Windows Vista, but it should also work for Windows 95/98/NT/2000
